Vrbas is located at the following geographical coordinates: 45°34' of northern latitude and 19°38' of eastern longitude.
It is located at the Bačka part of Vojvodina , the northern province of Serbia. It covers the area of 376 square km with the population of 45,755 people and average population density of 122 people/km.
The geographical position of the Municipality of Vrbas is characterized by numerous natural, geographical, social and economical components and their mutual influence. It is situated in the part located at the geometrical centre of Bačka.
Vrbas is located at the crossroad of different main roads which go through the territory of its municipality, connecting it with the rest of Vojvodina, as well as with other parts of the country.
The town is an intersection of railways: Subotica – Vrbas – Beograd and Sombor – Vrbas. The following roads go through Vrbas: Sombor – Vrbas – Novi Sad, Vrbas – Bačka Palanka, Vrbas – Subotica.
Waterways also have a prominent role. They represent a part of the hydro system Danube – Tisa – Danube. The Municipality of Vrbas comprises the town of Vrbas and villages Bačko Dobro Polje, Zmajevo, Ravno Selo, Kucura and Savino Selo.
It is connected with inhabited places within 8 – 20 km. It borders on the following municipalities: Kula, Mali Iđoš, Srbobran, Temerin, Novi Sad, Bački Petrovac, Bačka Palanka and Odžaci.
